This year the Pacific Northwest Jamboree will celebrate its 21st year, July 13-15! With a full complement of classes over 3 days, from Trail Pleasure to Open Show horses there is something for everyone at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds.

The Story of the Pacific Northwest Jamboree…Many years ago, a man from Tennessee had a dream. He had settled on a farm in Gig Harbor, Washington but his heart belonged to the “Volunteer” state, and it’s Tennessee Walking Horse. He set out to introduce his Walkers to as many people as he could, and promote these great horses throughout the Pacific Northwest. Barns and an arena were built right there on his own property. If you build it, they will come…he did, they did, and the “Jubilee” was born. Arnie Arnold and the “friends of the Jubilee” put on a fun, down-home but classy show for 20 years. Many long-time exhibitors have fond memories of the Jubilee, including cold showers, blown fuses and huge classes intermixed with events such as dog/owner look-alike classes, inventive costume classes and people-cart races. Hot weather, Mint Juleps and silver cups, water fights and dancing under the stars were all part of the Jubilee. They knew how to have fun, but at the same time, the Jubilee was a showcase for the best and most versatile Tennessee Walking Horses in the Northwest. Arnie believed in helping as many novice horse owners get started as possible, and it worked. It wasn’t unheard of to just be there to watch, but then find yourself in borrowed clothes on the back of a dependable Walker, participating in your first horse show! Next thing you knew, you owned one! As the Northwest Walking Horse population increased, the quality of horses bred, raised or trained in this area rivaled those from many great farms around the country… evidenced by the number of World Champions and Supreme Versatility Champions from the Pacific Northwest.
After 20 years of hosting the Jubilee at his private farm, Arnie decided it was time to retire from showbiz. Not wanting to see a good thing end, a small group of exhibitors got together, and in the spirit of “The Jubilee,” the “Pacific Northwest Jamboree” was born. True to the tradition of Arnie’s show, the Jamboree has maintained the “fun but classy” atmosphere. This year the Jamboree will celebrate its 21st year! With a full complement of classes over 3 days, from Trail Pleasure to Open Show horses, there is something for everyone. A number of Saddlebred classes have been added again this year to add more variety & excitement. Following a patriotic theme, local military color guards open the formal session of each day, and extra effort is made to add a little style and a little glitz, to make the show a joy to watch. Horses from all over the Pacific Northwest will compete for top honors, high point awards and the Arnie Arnold Versatility Award to honor the “roots” of our show. The “down-home” touch will be the great Catfish Fry for exhibitors and friends, followed by car races and often fireworks. The spacious Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds with a covered arena, plenty of parking, hot water & electricity is far different from the humble beginnings of the Gig Harbor Jubilee, but hopefully the family friendly Pacific Northwest Jamboree will inspire many of the same fond memories for years to come. Join us to behold the horseman’s dream come true!

TWHBEA of WA Issues Challenge to Other WIWHA Associations Organizations

On March 31, 2008 the TWHBEA of WA Directors passed a proposal to provide a general sponsorship to the TWH Breeders Association. President Kirk Peters submitted a $500 check from the TWHBEA of WA organization.

In addition to sending the check, he has sent a challenge to other state and local Tennessee Walking Horse organizations under Western International to consider, and support the TWHBEA breed registry in this time of financial uncertainty. (see Call for Support  http://www.twhbea.com/ProgramContributions.htm )

TWHBEA of WA President - Kirk Peters Sends Challenge to Northwest Walking Horse Clubs (WA TWH Pleasure Club, Inland Empire TWH Association, Montana TWH Association, Western International Walking Horse Association and TWH Exhibitors Assoc. of Oregon)...

I have been on the phone in the past week with Dee Dee Sale, Breeders Vice President, to talk about issues in our Industry, specifically the desperate position our breed registry is currently in, in regards to the financial issues that they are facing.
(see A Call For Support at  http://www.twhbea.com/ProgramContributions.htm ).

I would like to propose, that our organizations step up to the challenge, and make a $500 donation to the Breeders. I know that most of our organizations have not received any direct support from the Breeders in the past years, but I whole heartily believe in our breed and the benefits our members receive, and if we are in a position to contribute financially to the continued success of our breed and our registry we should do so.

I am requesting you as President and  Directors of your respective organizations, consider matching the Washington State Club donation of $500 to the Breeders to support the present financial crisis.

Thank you in advance for your consideration…our registry needs our financial support, and we also must have faith that the current Breeders Executive members can provide the leadership, and be accountable for righting the financial mismanagement of the prior Executive Board.

Thanks you for you in advance for your consideration.
